Cricket West Indies (CWI) will now be on the hunt for an additional venue to host matches in next year's ICC T20World Cup after Dominica pulled out of the reckoning, citing that the country is lagging behind with its implementation timelines.
Dominica was set to host one group stage match and two games in the Super Eight stage.
However, in a release on Thursday from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports stated that "the implementation timelines submitted by the various contractors revealed that it would not be possible to complete these works within the stipulated timeframe before the commencement of the tournament.
The release added that as a result, a decision was taken not to host any of the matches in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 as it would not be prudent for the government of Dominica to commit to hosting these games.
The 20 team World Cup is scheduled for June 3 to 30 and will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States.
